Custom MagSafe Wallets: Tiny Canvas with Big Energy

I’ve been custom-designing Popsocket MagSafe wallets for a few years now — each one a little piece of art you carry in your back pocket. My latest design takes cues from my Retro Roadtrip pattern — full of neon motel signs, Route 66 charm, and a sprinkle of old-school Americana. Think gas-station souvenirs meet graphic design daydreams.

From Roadside Icons to Everyday Carry

The Retro Roadtrip pattern started as a repeating design celebrating the magic of long drives, bad coffee, and roadside attractions you only find by accident. Translating that vibe to something the size of a credit card is… an adventure in itself. Every inch counts, so I rearranged the icons — the “Work Less, Gamble More” Vegas Vic and Vicky, the shimmering Vegas marquee, the iconic roadside signage — until it felt like a tiny collage of nostalgia you can stick to your phone.

Little Details, Big Personality

Each wallet design becomes its own mini-series. Some lean classic — desert golds and palm-green colorways — while others go full bold with vintage navy or sunset orange. I’ve even slipped in a few hidden Easter eggs for friends and collectors who know where to look. The best part? No two are ever exactly alike. It’s like a choose-your-own-adventure, but for your phone.

Over time, I’ve created versions that nod to different eras and personalities: a vintage-gold “Route 66” edition, a cool navy “Wild & Kind” collection, and a warm-tone “Restless Youth” set — each one balancing nostalgia, optimism, and a touch of kitsch. Some have been gifts; others, personal commissions. All have been testaments to how flexible illustrated branding can be when it’s designed with story and personality in mind.

Why I Love Designing the “Small Stuff”

There’s something so satisfying about turning something practical into something joyful. These wallets are equal parts design experiment and love letter to travel, nostalgia, and good typography. Whether it’s a one-off gift or part of a full pattern series, each one feels like a story that just happens to hold your ID and credit card.
