Dreaming in Patterns: A Savannah Story
When I first landed at SCAD, Savannah felt like a movie set. Horse-drawn carriages clopping down cobblestones, fountains that looked stolen from Europe, and more quirky “must-see” signs than you could ever fit into a day. Somewhere between grabbing coffee on Broughton and pulling all-nighters in the dorm, I had this wild idea: what if Savannah itself became a surface pattern?
Back then, it was just a half-formed daydream scribbled in sketchbooks. Fast forward (more years than I’ll admit), and here we are: Savannah finally gets the pattern treatment it deserves.
This repeating pattern is a love letter to the city that taught me how to see like a designer. Tybee Light? Check. Forsyth Fountain? Of course. Hot boiled peanuts? You better believe it. I even squeezed in a trolley tour, the Lucas Theatre marquee, and those quirky little details that make Savannah, well, Savannah.
It’s history-meets-humor, all hand-drawn with vintage linework and a wink of Southern charm.
Currently in the works:
Toile-inspired wallpaper & gift wrap
Elements for a hand-illustrated Savannah map (perfect for locals, travelers, or anyone who wishes they lived under the mossy oaks year-round)
Savannah may be small, but it has a way of sticking with you. For me, it stuck as an idea I couldn’t shake until I finally turned it into a pattern.
