Translating Complex Technology into Sales & Training Communications

Cummins was launching Connected Software Updates, an over-the-air technology that allows fleet operators to remotely update engine software without taking vehicles out of service. The challenge was helping sales teams, distributors, and customers understand a highly technical product and clearly communicate its value.
The Challenge
Connected Software Updates involved telematics, cloud connectivity, fleet management systems, engine control modules, and software deployment workflows. While the technology was powerful, the concepts were unfamiliar to many audiences.
The challenge wasn't creating the product story—it was translating complex technical information into clear, visual communications that sales teams could confidently present and customers could quickly understand.
My Role
Working within the established product strategy and messaging framework, I designed a series of sales presentations, training materials, diagrams, charts, infographics, and supporting visual assets.
My work focused on:
Organizing complex information into logical learning paths
Creating diagrams that explained technical workflows and system interactions
Designing charts and visual comparisons to communicate business value
Building presentation systems that improved consistency across training and sales materials
Translating dense technical content into clear, audience-friendly visuals
Impact
The resulting presentations helped simplify a complex technology story, making it easier for sales teams and customers to understand how Connected Software Updates worked, the business value it delivered, and how it fit into fleet operations.
This work demonstrates my ability to translate highly technical subject matter into clear visual communication, balancing information design, storytelling, and business objectives across large-scale presentation and training programs.
