Interactive Intelligence was an early interaction management and enterprise communications company helping organizations manage customer interactions across phone, email, web, and emerging digital channels.
As part of the creative team, I contributed to a broad body of work spanning corporate communications, annual reports, print campaigns, product marketing, visual identity development, and campaign concepting across multiple business units and product launches.
Challenge
Interactive Intelligence had established credibility as a technology company, but needed to evolve beyond feature-driven communications and strengthen its position in a growing and increasingly competitive market.
The challenge was creating communications that made complex software easier to understand while shifting conversations away from technical specifications and toward business outcomes, customer experience, and operational impact.
Strategy
Research and planning identified an opportunity to move beyond traditional enterprise software marketing by using metaphor, storytelling, and strong visual systems to make abstract technology feel more approachable and memorable.
Campaigns were developed to position Interactive Intelligence as a platform enabling smarter customer interactions rather than simply another communications product.
Concept Development
A major part of this work extended beyond execution into concept generation and campaign exploration across multiple product lines and business audiences.
Working from positioning strategy, audience insights, and evolving business objectives, I contributed to the development of campaign territories, visual metaphors, messaging directions, and early creative explorations used to shape how Interactive Intelligence communicated increasingly complex products.
Early concepts explored themes around:
Interaction as an orbiting ecosystem — positioning Customer Interaction Center™ (CIC) as the center of the communication universe and visualizing customer interactions as connected, dynamic relationships.
Business evolution and adaptation — reframing legacy communication infrastructure through metaphor and showing modern interaction management as a competitive advantage.
Technology made human — translating technical functionality into more approachable stories centered on customer experience and business outcomes.
Scalable visual systems — creating campaign frameworks and recurring visual language that could extend across corporate communications, advertising, annual reports, and future product launches.
Concept work included exploratory sketches, visual territories, headline development, campaign narratives, and early creative directions that informed final campaign execution.
Execution
Created and contributed to a range of integrated marketing and brand initiatives including:
Corporate brochure design and annual report design
Print advertising campaigns and campaign concepting
Product marketing for Customer Interaction Center (CIC) and Enterprise Interaction Center (EIC)
Visual identity exploration and supporting assets for Vocalité™ and Communité™
Concept-driven advertising and messaging systems that translated technical capabilities into more accessible business stories
Work frequently combined narrative concepts, metaphor-driven visuals, and highly branded systems designed to maintain recognition across product lines.
Results & Relevance
This work reflects an early foundation of how I still approach complex communication challenges today—translating technical ideas into clear stories, building scalable visual systems, and connecting business strategy with design execution across multiple touchpoints.
