A place-based illustration system built from the architecture, signage, and street-level culture of downtown Indianapolis.

Lockerbie Square Storybook translates the city’s storefronts, landmarks, and architectural character into a cohesive surface pattern system. Originally developed as a large-scale wallpaper installation, the illustrations have been refined into a repeat-ready framework designed for broader retail and hospitality applications.

The Story

What began as a site-specific wallpaper evolved into a flexible illustration system rooted in downtown Indy’s visual identity. Brick façades, historic signage, sports culture, neighborhood storefronts, and architectural silhouettes were drawn to function independently or within a structured repeat.

With the original brand removed, the system now stands as a place-driven pattern — adaptable for textiles, wallcoverings, regional merchandise, and urban retail collections.

Rather than commemorating a single business, the collection celebrates the broader character of downtown Indianapolis.

Colorway

Brick & Linen (Original) — A warm architectural neutral inspired by brick, mortar, and historic Midwestern façades. This tone grounds the illustration system while keeping the linework crisp and adaptable for wallcovering, textiles, and merchandise.

Pattern Development

This collection originated as a large-scale wallcovering and is now being refined into a seamless repeat surface pattern system. Spacing adjustments and scale variations are in development to support multiple product applications and alternate layout options.
