Royalware — Brand Identity for a Handpainted Porcelain Pottery Brand
Logo Design · Brand Identity · Icon Design · Pattern Design · Brand Board
There is nothing mass-produced about handpainted porcelain. Every piece takes time, skill, and the kind of attention that can't be automated. Royalware understood that from the start — and needed a brand that communicated it immediately, without having to explain it.
Founded in 2014 as an online pottery startup, Royalware specializes in handpainted porcelain pieces that sit at the intersection of craft and heritage. The brand identity had to carry that weight — elevated enough to justify the price point, storied enough to make a buyer feel like they were acquiring something with history behind it.
The Work
The logo is built around a heraldic badge system — a rampant lion at the center, surrounded by the full brand name and credentials: Porcelain · Made 2014 · Quality 100% · Handpainted. The kind of mark that looks like it belongs on a hallmark stamp at the bottom of a fine ceramic piece. Authoritative without being stuffy. Traditional without being dusty.
The supporting icon library draws from the same heraldic vocabulary — a fleur-de-lis, lion head, crown, quartered shield, and sword — each rendered in a clean line weight that works across both digital and print applications. The pattern system pairs a classic fleur-de-lis repeat with a delicate geometric tile pattern, giving the brand surface language that could live on packaging, tissue paper, or a web background with equal elegance.
The color palette is warm and grounded: burnt orange, deep rose, dusty mauve, terra cotta, warm taupe, and soft cream — colors that feel like the interior of a well-loved pottery studio, or the glaze on a piece that just came out of the kiln.
The moodboard anchors everything in the reality of the craft — a potter at the wheel, hands painting a bowl with careful precision, raw ceramics stacked in a kiln, sage green vessels lined up in a row. The work, not the lifestyle. The thing itself.
The Result
A brand identity that gives a handmade product the visual authority it deserves — and makes every piece feel like it was made for someone specific, even before they know their name is on it.

If you're building something that needs a mythology behind it — not just a logo — this is the kind of work I love most.
